Franz Glanz

(FRAG meh pee dee um) Phragmipedium Franz Glanz or more commonly called the South American Slipper Orchid. Found from South America north to Panama and Guatemala. The plants are understory plants, therefor requiring shade, and often are in high rainfall, or seepage, areas. Best results seem to be attained by growing under shady conditions with nearly constant moisture, often to the point of allowing the plants to stand in water.

The image is on a green cowhide background with a woodcut swash ornament in brown that highlights the curves and movement in the flower.
